Meet the Doctor

Dr. Akintayo Ogunji, also known to his patients as Dr. Tayo, developed an interest in dentistry early in life. Growing up in Lagos, Nigeria, in a family that valued health and wellness – his mother being a Chief Dental Nurse – he was inspired to pursue a career in oral health. He earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Lagos and practiced as a general dentist before relocating to Vancouver, British Columbia.

While practicing in Vancouver, Dr. Tayo was introduced to holistic dentistry and developed an interest in the connection between oral health and overall well-being. He later continued his education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) with honors in Jaw Pain and Dysfunction and Esthetic Dentistry. He is also a member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) and was awarded the Matty Young Scholarship to attend the IAOMT General Meeting in Dallas.

Dr. Tayo is committed to patient-centred care and believes patients should feel informed and involved in their treatment decisions. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, reading, travelling, and exploring different cultures.
